The African American Holistic Resource Center (AAHRC) at 1890 Alcatraz Avenue is moving forward with plans for a new 6,000-square-foot community building designed to serve and strengthen the community. After structural and soil assessments, the City committed an additional $6.85 million to replace the existing structure with a brand-new facility.
The project—led by the AAHRC Steering Committee, City staff, and AE3 Partners, Inc.—received approval from the Zoning Adjustments Board in December 2025 and is now in the detailed design phase, with construction anticipated to begin in 2027.
As this vision takes shape, we invite you to support the work through donations and community engagement, including participation in the first AAHRC initiative, Project Sankofa.
Project Sankofa: Radical Healing and Mental Wellness Campaign
A culturally responsive and healing-centered campaign focused on addressing mental health stigma, promoting early intervention, and advancing holistic wellness among African American youth, young adults, and their intergenerational support systems.
